Pied Beauty by Gerard Manley Hopkins

Journal Entry: Sun Jul 6, 2008, 8:15 PM
I had to memorize and decipher this poem for my Advanced English class my Senior year. At first, I hated it. But after I figured out what Hopkins was trying to portray, I fell in love w/ the piece. In the beginning, he talks about the beauty on earth that God has given us. Towards the latter part of the poem, he starts to apologize for overlooking the unconventional beauty here as well. Praising God for ALL he has given us.

GLORY be to God for dappled things--

For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;

For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;

Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches' wings;

Landscape plotted and
pieced--fold, fallow, and plough;

And all trades, their gear and tackle and trim.

All things counter, original, spare, strange;

Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)

With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;

He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change:

Praise Him

Blackout

Ever just get so pumped about something that you forget about everything else? Well, today was one of those days, and one of the things I forgot to do was eat...which resulted in me blacking out at the shelter today, lol.

I volunteer at the SPCA here in Lakeland, and today we got in these pit bulls that I have the privilege to help train. I've been wanting to work one on one w/ pits for rehabilitation purposes, and today was the day.

Today, I was given Brutus and Bones, two very sweet, very beautiful American Pitt Bull Terriers. They're both food and animal aggressive, and now it's my job to break them of that habit. ^_^

So yeah, all I had today was a Venti Caramel Frappuccino and a can of Vault. Which apparently isn't enough sustenance to last throughout the day in 98 degree weather while working w/ two very hard headed pitts...

I've never passed out before...It was kinda cool ^_^

Although, I totally freaked Jay out, our Maintenance guy. All I remember was asking him to help open the gate for me, and then bam! I was on my back and two dogs were licking my face off and Jay was saying something in Spanish...lol

Damn Kids...

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 30, 2008, 7:52 PM
Okay, maybe God felt like giving me some insight today...or he just likes messing w/ me...

Either way, last night I was thinking about whether or not I'd like to have kids. It's a subject I keep flip flopping w/, but last night it happened to be a "yes". (for the most part its always "no").

So yeah, today was a rude reminder as to why I usually say no in the first place. Okay, so while at work this mother and son come in. She's trying on shoes while the lil brat is running around the store like a chicken w/ its head cut off...anywho, the kid eventually gets bored of that (thank gawd cuz I was about to pull my hair out) and goes over to his mom where he proceeds to take his shoes off. I go over to offer assistance (b/c I have to follow the "Customer Journey" rules)and when the kid goes to take his shoe off, half the contents of an unknown sandbox is dumped onto our floor...I look at the kid...I look at the mom...mom looks and son and says, "Okay honey, now take off the other one."

OMG...I wanted to bitch slap the woman!!! So yeah...after they left I had to clean up the pound of dirt left on the carpet....

Not an hour after that, another mom/son pair come in. The kid is eating Cheerios out of a plastic baggy...I just knew he'd be trouble, and sure enough, I was right. The lil shit looks right at me and dumps the food onto the floor...and then steps all over it!!! And what does his mother do?! She freakin' laughs at him!!!

So yeah, besides coming w/in an inch of murdering four customers...today was good...

Art Slump

Just thought I'd let whoever know that I'm not going to post anything for awhile. What used to be a passion of mine is now something I haven't been able to bring myself to do, and its slowing eating away at me inside. Drawing was my release in life, and while photography has helped curb my artistic needs, I feel as if it's not enough. So, until I'm able to find my drawing niche once again, I'm gonna refrain from posting. But when I draw something I'm proud of, I'll be sure to share it.

Now all I need is a muse...

Wanted

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 29, 2008, 12:52 AM
Okay, finally got to go and see "Wanted"...and omg...I freakin' love it!!! Dude, like...there's action 24/7. I had to see it b/c I'm a big Angie fan (Team Jolie!!!), but damn, I didn't think I'd fall in love w/ the film. Yeah, it's got parts in it that are totally impossible, but hey, it's a movie for crying out loud...it's gonna have would-never-happen-in-real-life crap in it. So if anyone was wondering, you gotta go and see it. I laughed, I cried (if you see it you'll know why), and I screamed...but only cuz there was a scene where this dude's head gets blown off his shoulders and the bang startled me ^_^.

Oh, and a word of advice, don't buy one of those huge Arizona Tea cans and drink the whole thing in like...20 min...cuz I had to "GO" for almost half the movie. And what's with those new hand dryers??? Yeah, it gets the water off quick, but I'd still like my skin to be on my hands afterwards...okay, enough ranting...XD

I'm tired of being fuckin' affectionate!!!
